The Latest Technology
Our orthodontic team are Incognito Certified, and are experts in providing orthodontic treatment using lingual braces (inside braces).
We use the latest technology to take scans of your teeth which makes the manufacturing process of your braces much faster, so you'll spend less time waiting.
The Benefits of Incognito Braces?
- Incognito (lingual) braces will not change the profile of your lips, like conventional braces do.
- They are virtually hidden giving you the freedom to smile confidently.
- You can speak face to face and people won’t be able to tell you are wearing braces.
- Incognito Braces are low profile against your mouth making them far more comfortable than other inside braces.
You could be suitable for Incognito Braces if...
- You would prefer your braces to be virtually invisible to people you speak.
- You do not want your braces to change the shape of your lips when your mouth is closed.
- You would prefer braces which are more comfortable for the duration of your orthodontic treatment.

Why are they called Incognito braces?
Incognito, an Italian word, originating from the Latin term incognitus, meaning ‘to have one's true identity concealed’. Concealed is exactly what you get when you choose the custom made brackets. Incognito orthodontic braces are like conventional braces, however they are placed BEHIND the teeth, so they are invisible when you smile.
How do Incognito braces work?
Incognito braces are applied in a similar way as conventional braces; only they’re fitted to behind your teeth. At your first appointment at Wilkinson Orthodontics, your orthodontist will use a virtual scanner to take 3D images of your teeth in order to determine how each bracket will need to be made to fit your teeth. A personal virtual treatment plan will be generated specifically to suit your orthodontics needs these images are sent away to make each bracket individually for your teeth! Your orthodontist will then determine how often your Incognito braces need to be tightened and the duration of treatment, resulting in a beautiful new smile!
How do I get the best results out of my Incognito braces?
When your orthodontist fits your Incognito braces, they will explain that as your teeth are aligned, your bite also needs to be aligned as well. In order to do this, you will be given special elastic bands, commonly referred to as “elastics” that will attach to both the top and bottom rows of your braces on either side of your mouth. You will need to wear these elastics religiously except for when you are brushing your teeth and eating, that means even when you’re sleeping too! In order to get the best results from your braces, you must commit to wearing your elastics! But don’t worry; your elastics will be just as concealed, as your braces will be, as we offer a range of colours including clear!
In addition to wearing your elastics, you must be committed to maintaining excellent oral hygiene throughout the duration of your treatment. This includes brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing your teeth and braces, and making sure you don’t consume anything that could damage your Incognito braces.
How long do I need to wear Incognito bracesfor?
Similar to traditional braces, the duration of treatment varies for each individual. Typically however, Incognito braces are fitted for a minimum of 9 months and can be left on for up to up to 3 years. The estimated recommended treatment time for your Incognito braces will be determined by your orthodontist when you have your first consultation.
Will Incognito braces affect my eating?
Much like traditional braces, you won’t have to change your diet dramatically but you will have to avoid eating hard and sticky foods that could dislodge a bracket or loosen a wire. For the first few weeks, you will want to stick to soft foods that that do not require too much chewing and can be easily swallowed. Once you get into the groove of wearing your Incognito braces, we recommend that you chop or slice any hard foods that you would normally eat, into small bite size pieces (for example, carrots, apples etc.) so they don’t get stuck anywhere behind your teeth!
How will it impact my daily life?
Short answer: it won't! Incognito braces are currently the best non-visible teeth alignment treatment available! Unlike traditional braces, Incognito doesn’t affect your smile or lip profile. Most importantly, Incognito braces cannot be seen when you smile.
How do Incognito braces compare to other treatments?
A person is more likely to choose incognito treatments if their lifestyle calls for a more discreet treatment approach. With Incognito braces, you will literally have braces without anyone ever knowing because they are fitted behind the teeth instead of in front of them, they are hidden from general view.
How much do Incognito braces cost?
We believe you can never put a price on your smile, but we also understand that investing money into teeth is a big deal. That’s why alongside upfront payments, we offer interest free payment plan options which can be discussed at your first consultation with your orthodontist! Each orthodontic treatment will differ in price, but we can guarantee that the result will have you smiling.
