To get the best result possible from your Invisalign treatment, is committing to wearing your Invisalign aligners 24 hours a day, except when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. Your oral hygiene is also extremely important during your Invisalign treatment, so brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing and brushing your Invisalign trays twice daily is also a must! Additionally, we highly recommended cleaning your teeth after eating as to ensure limiting the possibility for bad bacteria to build up in your mouth which cause decay.

Caring for your Invisalign is a simple but important part of the success of your treatment! Aside from brushing your aligners twice daily with a toothbrush and toothpaste, we highly recommend that you soak your aligners at least once a week in an antibacterial solution. This will ensure that your aligners are kept to a hygienic level and that no bacteria are hiding in them. We also recommend that each time you take your Invisalign out of your mouth, you wash them under cold water only to ensure you retain good hygiene levels.

Each treatment plan is different for each person, but typically an adult will need to wear their aligners for at least 12-24 months. This estimated amount of time is dependent on your individual orthodontic condition, how much your teeth need to move in order to achieve the recommended result, how often your required to change the aligners and also how committed you are to wearing your aligners, 24/7.

Your aligners should stay in your mouth at all times, including night time. If you’re worried about discomfort while you sleep, don’t be, as your aligners are custom fitted to your teeth you should experience only a discomfort after you have changed to new aligners. The rest of the time little or no discomfort is experienced.

You don’t have to change your eating habits when receiving Invisalign treatment! Once you are over the initial treatment start period, you can eat anything you like, as you always have. You do however need to spend a little bit more time and care on your oral hygiene to ensure your teeth and aligners remain clean after each meal.

Ultimately the success of your Invisalign treatment relies solely on your dedication to wearing your aligners consistently. This means all day, every day and night. If you don’t wear your aligners consistently, your treatment will take longer, resulting in your plan and or your aligners needing to be adjusted. With a few people, it can take a little time to adjust to wearing the aligner, it is worth persisting the first couple of weeks, as soon you won’t even realise you’re wearing them.
