Invisalign® Treatments Gold Coast
Invisalign aligners offer a clear solution for straightening your teeth. The Invisalign treatment consists of a series of near invisible, custom made, removable aligners that are changed roughly every two weeks.
Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth and as you replace each aligner, your teeth will move little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the final desired position. At Wilkinson Orthodontics we specialise in Invisalign treatments on the Gold Coast which transforms your teeth with minimal discomfort, and a pleasing aesthetic.

How do Invisalign aligners work?
The first step of introducing Invisalign aligners into your life happens when we take a vertical scan of your teeth. This scan is then uploaded to develop a personal virtual treatment plan using Align Technology’s ClinCheck software program.
We then send away your scan for printing the aligners. The aligners arrive and we issue them to you advising the determined time for to the desired alignment. We will then instruct you the determined the amount of time you need to wear your Invisalign aligners. Everybody’s orthodontic treatment plan is different, depending on your orthodontic needs, it can take between 9 to 24 months to work with the aligners being changed every two weeks.
After your treatment plan has been developed and your first set of aligners has been made, you will wear your custom fit Invisalign 24 hours a day, except for when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. Depending on your treatment plan, your orthodontist will fit a new set of Invisalign to your teeth every two weeks, a slight change in the fit with each aligner each time which will ensure the progression of your alignment. Each week as you wear your Invisalign, your teeth will make small movements until your teeth have moved to the desired spot!
How do you get the best results out of Invisalign treatment?
To get the best result possible from your Invisalign treatment, you must commit to wearing your Invisalign aligners 24 hours a day, except when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. Your oral hygiene is also extremely important during your Invisalign treatment, so brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing and brushing your Invisalign trays twice daily is also a must! We also highly recommended cleaning your teeth after eating as to ensure limiting the possibility for bad bacteria to build up in your mouth which cases decay.
How do you care for your Invisalign aligners?
Caring for your Invisalign aligners is a simple but important part of the success of your treatment! Aside from brushing your aligners twice daily with a toothbrush and toothpaste, we highly recommend that you soak your aligners at least once a week in an antibacterial solution. This will ensure that your aligners are kept fresh and that no bacteria are hiding in them! We also recommend that each time you take your aligners out of your mouth, you wash them under cold water to ensure that they remain germ free!
How long do I need to wear my aligners for?
Each treatment plan is different for each person, but typically a person will need to wear their aligners for at least 12 months. This estimated amount of time is dependent on how much your teeth need to move in order to achieve a perfect alignment, how often you have new aligners fitted and also how committed you are to wearing your aligners 24/7!
Can I take my aligners out at night?
Your aligners should stay in your mouth at all times, including night time. If you’re worried about discomfort while you sleep, don’t be, as your aligners are custom fitted to your teeth you should experience only a discomfort after you have changed to new aligners. The rest of the time little or no discomfort is experienced.
Can I continue to eat normally with Invisalign aligners?
Good news! You don’t have to change your eating habits when receiving Invisalign treatment! You do however need to spend a little bit more time and care on your oral hygiene to ensure your teeth and aligners remain clean after each meal. After all, there’s nothing worse than having food stuck in your teeth… imagine having food stuck in your aligners!
What happens if I don’t wear my aligners consistently?
Ultimately the success of your Invisalign treatment relies solely on your dedication to wearing your aligners consistently. This means all day, every day. If you don’t wear your aligners consistently, your treatment will take longer, your treatment plan will need to be adjusted and you’ll be kicking yourself!
How will my Invisalign treatment impact my daily life?
In short… they won’t. The magic of Invisalign aligners is that you wear them, take them out when you eat and drink, and then put them back in! Invisalign aligners are personalised to your teeth and after a while it won’t even feel like they’re there! Some patients who choose the Invisalign treatment experience a slight lisp for their first couple of weeks, but once your mouth adapts to the sensation of the trays, you’ll be speaking fluently once again. The best part? No one will even be able to tell that you’re wearing them!
How much does Invisalign treatment cost?
We believe you can never put a price on your smile, but we also understand that investing money into teeth alignment treatment is a big deal. That’s why alongside upfront payments, we offer interest free payment plans which can be discussed at your first consultation with your orthodontist! Each teeth alignment treatment will differ in price, but we can guarantee that the result will have you smiling.
