Invisalign ™

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a medical grade plastic that is specifically manufactured to uniquely fit your teeth, both the top and bottom rows. Invisalign is custom made and designed for your individual orthodontic needs.

The Invisalign treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile. Innovations and technological advancements make it possible to fix nearly all common teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex.

How Does Invisalign Work?

The first step of introducing Invisalign into your life happens when we take a vertical scan of your teeth. This scan is then uploaded to develop a personal virtual treatment plan using Align Technology’s ClinCheck software program.

We then send away your scan for printing the aligners. The aligners arrive and we issue them to you advising the determined time for to the desired alignment. We will then instruct you on how to look after the aligner, what to expect and how often you will need to wear your Invisalign aligners. Everybody’s orthodontic treatment plan is different, depending on your orthodontic needs the Invisalign takes around 9 to 24 months to work with the aligners being changed every one to two weeks.

After your treatment plan has been developed and your first set of aligners has been made, you will wear your custom fit Invisalign 24 hours a day, except for when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. Depending on your treatment plan, your orthodontist will fit a new set of Invisalign to your teeth every one to two weeks, a slight change in the fit of each aligner, engaging tooth movement through this adjusted fit, will ensure the progression of your alignment. Each week or two as you wear your Invisalign, your teeth will make small movements until your teeth have moved to the desired spot and your alignment is complete.

INVISALIGN FAQs

About Invisalign

To get the best result possible from your Invisalign treatment, is committing to wearing your Invisalign aligners 24 hours a day, except when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. Your oral hygiene is also extremely important during your Invisalign treatment, so brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing and brushing your Invisalign trays twice daily is also a must! Additionally, we highly recommended cleaning your teeth after eating as to ensure limiting the possibility for bad bacteria to build up in your mouth which cause decay.

Caring for your Invisalign is a simple but important part of the success of your treatment! Aside from brushing your aligners twice daily with a toothbrush and toothpaste, we highly recommend that you soak your aligners at least once a week in an antibacterial solution. This will ensure that your aligners are kept to a hygienic level and that no bacteria are hiding in them. We also recommend that each time you take your Invisalign out of your mouth, you wash them under cold water only to ensure you retain good hygiene levels.

Each treatment plan is different for each person, but typically an adult will need to wear their aligners for at least 12-24 months. This estimated amount of time is dependent on your individual orthodontic condition, how much your teeth need to move in order to achieve the recommended result, how often your required to change the aligners and also how committed you are to wearing your aligners, 24/7.

Your aligners should stay in your mouth at all times, including night time. If you’re worried about discomfort while you sleep, don’t be, as your aligners are custom fitted to your teeth you should experience only a discomfort after you have changed to new aligners. The rest of the time little or no discomfort is experienced.

You don’t have to change your eating habits when receiving Invisalign treatment! Once you are over the initial treatment start period, you can eat anything you like, as you always have. You do however need to spend a little bit more time and care on your oral hygiene to ensure your teeth and aligners remain clean after each meal.

Ultimately the success of your Invisalign treatment relies solely on your dedication to wearing your aligners consistently. This means all day, every day and night. If you don’t wear your aligners consistently, your treatment will take longer, resulting in your plan and or your aligners needing to be adjusted. With a few people, it can take a little time to adjust to wearing the aligner, it is worth persisting the first couple of weeks, as soon you won’t even realise you’re wearing them.

The magic of Invisalign is that you wear them, take them out when you eat and drink, and then put them back in. Invisalign are personalised to your teeth and after a while it won’t even feel like they’re there! Some patients who choose the Invisalign treatment experience a slight lisp for their first couple of weeks, but once your mouth adapts to the sensation of the trays, you’ll be speaking fluently once again. The best part? No one will even be able to tell that you’re wearing them.

We believe you can never put a price on your smile, but we also understand that investing money into teeth alignment treatment is a big deal. That’s why alongside upfront payments, we offer personalised payment plans which can be discussed at your first consultation with your orthodontist! As we treat you based on your individual Orthodontic needs, the pricing will also differ for each individual.
