How Does Invisalign Work?
The first step of introducing Invisalign into your life happens when we take a vertical scan of your teeth. This scan is then uploaded to develop a personal virtual treatment plan using Align Technology’s ClinCheck software program.
We then send away your scan for printing the aligners. The aligners arrive and we issue them to you advising the determined time for to the desired alignment. We will then instruct you on how to look after the aligner, what to expect and how often you will need to wear your Invisalign aligners. Everybody’s orthodontic treatment plan is different, depending on your orthodontic needs the Invisalign takes around 9 to 24 months to work with the aligners being changed every one to two weeks.
After your treatment plan has been developed and your first set of aligners has been made, you will wear your custom fit Invisalign 24 hours a day, except for when you eat, drink and brush your teeth. Depending on your treatment plan, your orthodontist will fit a new set of Invisalign to your teeth every one to two weeks, a slight change in the fit of each aligner, engaging tooth movement through this adjusted fit, will ensure the progression of your alignment. Each week or two as you wear your Invisalign, your teeth will make small movements until your teeth have moved to the desired spot and your alignment is complete.
