Are you unhappy with your smile, invisible braces could be the answer! Do you ever wonder how celebrities and high profile figures realign their teeth without being obvious?
What is Invisalign?
What do Gisele Bundchen, Tom Cruise and Katherine Heigl all have in common? That’s right, Invisalign! Invisalign is hospital grade clear plastic that is custom fitted to both rows of your teeth. It works similarly to a mouth guard, but instead of guarding your teeth, Invisalign aligns them in a discreet and comfortable way.
How does it work?
At your first orthodontic appointment, an impression or 3D digital scan will be taken of your teeth. Your orthodontist will then generate your personalised virtual treatment plan. At Wilkinson Orthodontics, we use Align Technology’s unique ClinCheck software to simulate the exact series of movements your teeth will make throughout the duration of your treatment! We will be able to see each step of the way, including the final product. So there are no surprises! You will change aligners every 2 weeks and see your Orthodontist regularly to keep your treatment on track.
What are the benefits?
Invisalign is a convenient alternative to braces, because unlike with braces, you are able to take them out to eat and drink! Aside from the convenience, Invisalign is designed to be comfortable as each set is custom made to fit YOUR teeth. Are we forgetting the most important part? Invisalign is virtually INVISIBLE! So for the duration of your treatment, you can keep on smiling.
Are there any disadvantages?
At Wilkinson Orthodontics, we believe that you’re never at a disadvantage when you invest in your smile. We know what a huge effect a great smile can have on confidence! There are no major disadvantages of undergoing Invisalign treatment, however there are some things you need to remember.
- Continue to brush your teeth at minimum twice daily. Oral hygiene is important, especially when undergoing teeth alignment treatment.
- Be sure to rinse your Invisalign each time you take it out of your mouth and put it back in.
- Commit to wearing your Invisalign 24/7. Your treatment is only going to be successful if you live and breathe in them, only taking them out to eat, drink and clean your teeth. The recommended wear time for Invisalign is 22 hours a day.
